This website is a record of Paul and Ann-Marie Statham's life on the narrowboat Edna May since 2004, and some of our hobbies.

Our boat is a 60 foot long traditional narrowboat. This means that the stern has a small deck to stand on, then the cabin starts immediately, with the engine under the cabin floor. The shell (hull) was built by Gorton Boatbuilders in 2001, and the interior was fitted out by the boat's original owner, Ted Wilkins. As Ted was a house builder, the fit out is to a high standard, with wooden internal sides and roof. The bow deck is longer than average, which gives the boat a 'tug-like' look, but we find the extra length very useful for open storage.
